VITTORIA Federico II di Svevia (1220-1250) Denaro scodellato o Vittorino - MIR 1362 AG (g 0,75) RRRR Città ormai scomparsa, fu eretta dall'imperatore Federico II per sostituire la ribelle Parma, passata dalla parte guelfa e dunque sottoposta ad assedio e al taglio dei viveri. La città dal nome beneaugurale di Vittoria subì l'incursione da parte dei rivoltosi che, ormai stremati dal duro assedio, contrattaccarono e la rasero al suolo in una feroce sortita. Di tale insediamento ad oggi non vi è alcuna traccia. Anche le fonti storiche a nostra disposizione sono esigue. L'attribuzione di tale moneta alla "mitica" città scomparsa, in virtù della legenda del Rv. (S VICTORIS), è ancora oggi oggetto di controverse teorie da parte degli studiosi tutte valide fino a quando, se mai capiterà, verranno alla luce documenti o ripostigli che possano far maggio chiarezza. Se il denaro Vittorino fosse realmente la moneta dell'assedio di Parma si tratterebbe dell'unica testimonianza materiale a nostra disposizione dell'evento bellico che suscitò tanto stupore tra i contemporanei.
A city that disappeared long ago, it was founded by Emperor Federico II to replace the rebellious Parma, that switched over to the Guelph side and was therefore under siege and cut off from the food supplies. The city, auspiciously named Vittoria, was raided by the rebels that, worn out by the siege, decided to strike back and raze the city to the ground. To this day there is no trace left of that settlement, even the historical sources are scarce. The attribution of this coin to the mythical ghost town, on account of the reverse legend (S VICTORIS), is even today subject to controversial theories, which all remain valid until new sources and documents can shed some light on the matter. If the Vittorian denarius really was Parma's siege coin, that would make it the only tangible testimony of the war that shocked so many among contemporaries.
